Our Story
As “Etsy witches” began trending across social media, thousands of digital storefronts quickly followed, many appearing overnight and selling mass-produced “weather spells” with no connection to a real practitioner, place, or tradition.
Andrew Leavitt, whose career has focused on wedding meteorology, watched couples spend real money on products that felt more like AI-generated marketing than anything authentic. In his words, many of these sellers were simply “charlatans” capitalizing on fear and uncertainty around wedding weather.
After more than 15 years living in and traveling through New Orleans, Andrew knew the city could offer couples something far more authentic and meaningful.
Through friends in the French Quarter, Andrew was introduced to the Three Sisters, a collective of spiritual practitioners with more than 20 years of experience practicing New Orleans Voodoo, rooted in traditions shaped by West African, Haitian, Creole, Catholic, and Indigenous influences. Their approach was never about selling spells. Instead, it focused on creating something couples could genuinely hold onto and share together.
To bring the idea to life, Andrew and the Three Sisters invited Matthew of A Fine Press, known for his unconventional approach to wedding stationery, to New Orleans over Halloween weekend in 2025. Together, they explored the city’s history, symbolism, and living spiritual traditions. Somewhere along the way, Blessings from New Orleans stopped being an idea and became something real.
The result is a blend of meteorology, stationery, and spiritual tradition designed to bring couples comfort, connection, and peace of mind in the face of the unknown, especially the weather that can disrupt a wedding day.
The blessings focus on the weather, but they also focus on the couple themselves, their past, present, and future together. Rather than simply providing an “email confirmation” that a spell was cast, each blessing is built around a tradition-based ritual designed to help couples feel connected, supported, and welcomed into the next chapter of their lives together.
The Three Sisters intentionally remain behind the scenes and are never photographed. For them, the focus has always been on the ritual, the intention, and the couple themselves rather than the practitioners behind it. Out of respect for those traditions, their privacy has remained part of Blessings from New Orleans from the very beginning.
At its heart, Blessings from New Orleans was created to give couples something authentic in a world increasingly filled with digital noise, something rooted in tradition, connection, and the hope that even the unknown can be met with a little more peace of mind.
The Ritual
The Fire
1
The process begins with a spiritualist taking time to understand the couple, who they are, where they live, and any concerns they may be carrying, before building a fire along the bayou to connect with the elements and spirits and open a channel to the worlds that surround us.
Through this fire offering, the Three Sisters call upon the elements and natural forces to guide and support a blessed union on the wedding day and beyond, bringing peace of mind no matter what Mother Nature has in store.
The Intention
2
In a world full of unknowns, from shifting weather to family dynamics to the small interruptions that can arise, this blessing is meant to create a sense of calm and steadiness, helping to ground your wedding day in intention, care, and protection so you can stay present in what truly matters.
What You Receive
3
Personal care and intention are woven into each ritual to help create a wedding day marked by clarity, presence, and a sense of steady purpose. Each couple receives a personalized blessing box, thoughtfully designed with the ritual in mind, containing simple tools to receive and carry the blessing performed in New Orleans.
Alongside the spiritual elements, the box also includes lagniappe (a little gift) tied to our scientific offerings, giving couples the option to add an additional layer of insight and understanding about the weather on their wedding day.
The Experience
4
This handcrafted ritual kit is designed to create a quiet moment between partners, offering space to ground and complete the rite initiated by the Three Sisters, a New Orleans collective of spiritual practitioners. Rooted in tradition and carried forward by those who receive it, Blessings from New Orleans invites a pause to honor the past and step into the future with intention, under clear skies and with the wind at your back.
Frequently Asked Questions

Blessings from New Orleans was created in response to the rise of mass-produced “weather spells” sold online, often delivered as simple digital emails with little connection to a true practitioner or tradition.

-
Blessings from New Orleans is not tied to any one religion or belief system. It draws from traditions connected to the elements, nature, and the energy surrounding a moment in time, guided by practitioners with deep ties to the city’s Creole and Afro-Caribbean spiritual heritage, rather than doctrine or worship. Many couples choose to receive it simply as a gesture of care and intention.
If it does not align with your personal beliefs or comfort, there is no expectation to accept or participate in the blessing.
-
Each box arrives with simple instructions from the Three Sisters. There is nothing to memorize and nothing that needs to be performed publicly. The ritual is yours to keep private or to incorporate into your day in whatever way feels right.

As a wedding planner, the #1 thing that stresses me out is the one thing I can’t control: the weather.
Add in a winter-spring shoulder date and a killer outdoor ceremony plan, and the stress level increases tenfold.
When I heard about Blessings, I thought it would be the perfect gift for my client, and I hoped it would bring good weather. It did!! Just the day before, it was blustery and cold, with 30 mph wind gusts that kept anything from staging outside unless it was attached to the ground. On the wedding day? A gorgeous, temperate day with a beautiful sunset. The weather was so nice that everyone went outside to enjoy it immediately after dinner, and we had to wrangle them back inside for dancing.
My clients have it in their home, and she mentioned to me the other day how nice it smelled and that it reminded her of her perfect March wedding weather!!
